Thank you for supporting the children of St. Jude's! As of Monday, 3/9/12 we have collected $2,450.00 in donations for the children of St. Jude's Hospital! Our students and parents are AWESOME!
Our Reach for the Stars program started today, April 11, 2012. Parents are encouraged to read to their child(ren) 20 minutes per day, record each book read and encourage family and friends to sponsor them. This reading incentive ends April 20, 2012. For every dollar the children raised they will keep half to purchase their own books through Usbourne Books. The other half will be spent on books for their classroom. This is a great family involvement activity that we hope each family will take advantage of!

The Adult Education Early Learning Center of Excellence
at Bunnell Elementary School & Flagler VPK at Indian Trails
Flagler County Adult Education is entering its fifth year of providing Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) to all eligible 4-year old children in Flagler County. VPK is offered at The Adult Education Early Learning Center of Excellence at Bunnell Elementary and The VPK Program at Indian Trails Middle School.
For those who may not be familiar with VPK, this is a state funded program for all children who turn four on or before September 1st of the upcoming school year. This program allows children to attend 540 hours of free classroom instruction through the school year to prepare them for Kindergarten. The VPK program must follow standards established by the Department of Education that focus on eight developmental domains: emergent literacy, social/emotional, fine/gross motor, physical health, language/communication, approaches to learning, mathematics and cognitive development plus a variety of skills which are proven to prepare preschool children for success in elementary school. The Early Learning Center of Excellence and VPK Program at Indian Trails utilizes The Creative Curriculum which is supplemented with the Imagine It!, a specially designed multi-sensory curriculum, to provide age-appropriate activities that promote the foundation to reading skills and the love of learning.
Registration into the VPK program begins with obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) at the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties. You can pre-register for the COE on-line at www.elcfv.org or contact the Coalition at 386-437-8236.
VPK for the 2011-2012 school year begins on August 22, 2011 with the instruction hours of 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Extended day services are available for $50.00 per week. Pre-enrollment is ongoing at the Adult Education Early Learning Center.
The Adult Education Early Learning Center of Excellence also provides quality care and education for children 6-weeks of age to 3-years of age. The Creative Curriculum is utilized to promote social/emotional, fine/gross motor, cognitive/intellectual and self-help skills. The program accepts vouchers from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties (child care tuition assistance) and is licensed through the Department of Children and Families (license #C12FL0003).
