This will gravely impact the programs that we offer through Adult and Community Education/Flagler Technical Institute. The House’s proposal cuts 15% and the Senate is proposing elimination of all funding. Our programs that would be affected are Step Up Industries, Community Inclusion Program, Adult Activity Center, Step Up Adult Basic Education, and all programs run in conjunction with our partners at Stewart Marchman Act, and will also impact the Transitions Program that we offer 18-22 year old ESE students. These programs make such an important impact on the lives of our students and are a valuable resource for our community.
George Valentine has prepared letter below which includes the contact information for our legislators. John Thrasher and Audrey Gibson are the key people to give our thoughts to. Senator Thrasher’s aides are Rebecca, Darla, and J.J., and can be reached at 904-727-3600.
The legislature’s decision will be made very soon, so if you choose to make contact to express your opinion, please do so as soon as possible.
