New Tuition and Non-Resident Fees for Adult General Education
Please Read!
The Florida legislature has passed new laws requiring tuition and non-resident fees to be charged students who attend Adult General Education programs. The programs include GED Preparation, Adult Basic Education (ABE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Vocational Preparation Instruction (now called Applied Academics for Adult Education) and Adult High School (AHS). This is a “block tuition” which means that a student may register for more than one program within the term and will pay only one tuition fee. Tuition and fees are non-refundable.
The tuition for Florida residents (with proof of 1 year of residency) is $30 per term. Students considered non-residents will pay an additional out-of-state fee of $90 per term, for a total of $120 per term. The current term runs from August 22, 2011 to January 20, 2012.
Although students can no longer attend classes for free, these programs still represent a great value – $30 for the Fall term amounts to only $5 per month – and the benefit that students receive is invaluable! Continuing your education to earn a diploma or master the English language pays off in so many ways for a brighter future.
