Step-Up & Community Inclusion Programs
Flagler County Schools Adult Education, offers two Adults with Disabilities Adult Day Training (ADT) Programs Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM. The Step-Up program is partnered with Stewart Marchman-Act Corporation. Local businesses are contracted by SMA to provide work for the Enrichment program in Daytona and the Step-Up program in Flagler. Students are employed by SMA who holds a 14C certificate for individuals who have a documented disability. Students must be at least 24 years of age and/or have documentation of attempting to seek employment in the competitive workforce environment. Currently our wait list in Flagler is approximately two years out. Prior to contacting us, we require each individual to apply for the Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities in Daytona, (click on Medicaid Waiver Wait List for more information at http://apd.myflorida.com/area/12/). Our program goal is to offer job training assistance, basic education classes and life skills training to enhance and/or maintain skills. We provide a variety of activities to help assist with this goal.
Our Community Inclusion program is for Medicaid Waiver or Private Pay students who are looking for involvement in the community to enhance their basic life skills. The current rate is $150.00 per month. We have Certified Teachers and Adult Education Specialists who assist our students with basic skills such as reading, writing, math, cooking, self-care, and community integration; as well as proper behavior when interacting with others.
